Vitamin D Test at a glance

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, that the human body can produce under the influence of sunlight in the skin. It belongs to the group of secosteroids and occurs in various forms, with vitamin D₂ (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D₃ (cholecalciferol) being the most important. Vitamin D can be absorbed to a limited extent through food, primarily from fatty fish and certain mushrooms. After absorption or production in the body, it is converted into a biologically active form in several steps, which takes on various functions in metabolism. According to the European Health Claims Regulation, vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the maintenance of normal bones, and normal muscle function.

The measurement of vitamin D levels can help assess the individual supply status of this micronutrient. Since vitamin D is absorbed both through the body's own synthesis from sunlight and through diet, various factors – such as location, lifestyle, or skin coverage – can lead to different blood values. An analysis allows for the identification of any deviations from the range considered optimal and, if necessary, to discuss possible measures with a medical professional. An adequate vitamin D status is associated by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) with the maintenance of normal bones and the normal function of the immune system, among other things.

After the Registration your kit will be guided through the test process by our system. The dried blood test is easy to carry out and requires only a few drops of blood from your fingertip. A small, painless prick is completely sufficient for this. Needle or injection phobias therefore do not pose an obstacle to the vitamin D test.

Ich nehme zurzeit ein Vitamin D Supplement. Was muss ich beim Testen beachten?
